The Castro District’s status as the gay mecca of San Francisco and possibly the U.S. at large attracts throngs of tourists every single year. The neighborhood offers convenience and city living: shops, boutiques, a plethora of restaurants, nightlife, public transit via MUNI, and a take on San Francisco history. Walking tours of the Castro are fun and educational and show off places that otherwise easily go unnoticed. The commercial portion of the Castro stretches from 16th Street and Market to 18th Street and Castro.

The Castro is colorful, unconventional, and different; it’s adjacent Eureka Valley is upscale residential and situated in steep hills that guarantee more privacy. Eureka Valley has anything from condos to single family homes, to mansions – many with spectacular views, unless they are located on the valley floor. There are a couple of beautiful, if smaller parks as well as stairwell walks. The neighborhood consists more and more of young professionals and young families with small children.
